Vienna Technical University

The Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) is a higher education organization established in 1815 in Vienna, Austria. The Department for Interchangeable Manufacturing and Industrial Metrology (AuM) of the Institute of Production Engineering and Laser Technology at TU Wien is one of the only two organisations in Austria being accredited for the registration and certification of Quality Personnel between 1999 and 2015 and certified with ISO 9001 and EN ISO 17024. The AuM provides a specific educational scheme that enables new opportunities for educational processes at Universities based on research, development and instruction in mutual implementation of production engineering, micro and nanotechnology, surface measurement, metrology, geometrical product specification and verification -GPS, measurement technique, precision engineering, calibration together with management systems, quality management, risk management, environmental management, energy management and certification of the professionals. The scientific background and experience of highly skilled staff of AuM presents the key strength of knowledge transfer by trainings, lectures and Research&Development projects.

The AuM Micro and Nanometrology Laboratory of the TUWien is designed to enable micro and nanotechnology provide advanced measurement capabilities and meets the requirements for the high precision measurements ensuring that most of these disturbing influences will be reduced and kept constant. The environmental control in the AuM laboratory keeping the humidity, temperature and air-pressure constant defined by the ISO standards and the isolation against the vibration enables the existing high precision measurement systems to be operated under Quality Management.
